At-a-Glance

Silverwolf, an Australian real estate auditing company launching a cloud-hosted web application to serve property compliance clients.

Case Study
01

CHALLENGE:

No existing cloud infrastructure — needed a secure, scalable Azure environment built from scratch, including database hosting, web application deployment, and backup strategy.

02

SOLUTION:

Intelegain architected and deployed a full Azure stack: dedicated subscription, Storage Account, SQL Database VM, Azure Web App, and automated backup configuration — all aligned to Silverwolf's performance and security requirements.

03

RESULTS:

Production-ready infrastructure delivered, 99.9% uptime SLA, automated backups operational from day one.

The Challenge: Before Intelegain

Silverwolf was at the starting line of their cloud journey. As a real estate auditing firm preparing to launch a web-based platform for property compliance management, they had the domain expertise but none of the cloud infrastructure to support it. Their application needed a secure, reliable backend that could handle client data, scale with demand, and guarantee uptime that their enterprise property clients would require as a baseline.

The risk of getting infrastructure wrong at launch was significant. A misconfigured database VM or a storage account with weak access controls would not just be a technical problem — it would be a liability with clients who trusted them with sensitive audit data. They needed a partner who could build the full stack correctly, the first time, without requiring months of iteration.

No existing Azure environment:
Silverwolf had no subscription, no resource groups, and no baseline configuration — the engagement started from an empty Azure tenant
Database hosting requirements:
Their application required a SQL database that offered both scalability and controlled access — a managed PaaS service alone wasn't flexible enough for their query profile, so a VM- hosted SQL instance was the right call
Business continuity gap:
No backup policy existed. A single data loss event at launch would have been catastrophic for client relationships and regulatory standing.
Performance under load:
The auditing platform needed to handle concurrent users running report generation workloads without degrading response times.

Why Silverwolf Chose Intelegain

Silverwolf shortlisted Azure implementation partners based on three criteria that eliminated most generalist IT firms:

Full-stack Azure delivery capability:
Silverwolf needed one team to own the entire infrastructure build — from subscription setup through to web app deployment and backup configuration. Intelegain's cloud practice covered all five components without the need for subcontractors or handoffs between specialists.
Speed to production
The web application had a committed launch date tied to client agreements. Intelegain's structured High- velocity delivery blueprint — with clearly defined phases and daily progress updates — was the only proposal that treated the timeline as a design constraint rather than an aspiration.
Security-first architecture:
Silverwolf's auditing context meant their clients expected their data to be handled at a higher standard than typical SaaS platforms. Intelegain's approach of embedding security controls at each layer (storage, database, network, application) rather than bolting them on afterward aligned with that expectation.

Implementation: The Intelegain Approach

Intelegain structured the build in sequential layers, each validated before the next was initiated. This removed the risk of propagating configuration errors upward through the stack — a common failure mode when infrastructure components are built in parallel without coordination checkpoints.

01

Phase 1: Azure Subscription & Foundation Setup

Intelegain provisioned a dedicated Azure subscription for Silverwolf with a logical resource group hierarchy that separated production, staging, and networking concerns. Naming conventions, tagging policies, and cost management alerts were configured from day one to give Silverwolf visibility into spend as the infrastructure grew. Azure Policy assignments enforced allowed regions (Australia East and Australia Southeast) to ensure data residency compliance. Identity and access management was configured with separate service principals for deployment pipelines and operational access, each scoped to least-privilege roles.

02

Phase 2: Storage Account & SQL Database VM

A Storage Account was provisioned with geo-redundant replication (GRS) enabled, private endpoint access configured, and public blob access disabled. Access keys were rotated immediately post-setup and stored in Azure Key Vault rather than hardcoded in application configuration files. The SQL Database VM was provisioned on a D-series compute instance with Premium SSD storage, placed within the production virtual network with an NSG restricting SQL port access to the application subnet only. SQL Server was configured with Windows Authentication disabled, Mixed Mode authentication with strong credential policies, and TDE (Transparent Data Encryption) enabled at the database level.

03

Phase 3: Azure Web App Deployment & Backup Configuration

The Azure Web App was deployed in the Australia East region on a Standard S2 App Service Plan, providing dedicated compute with auto-scaling rules triggered at 70% CPU utilisation. Deployment slots were configured for staging-to-production swap workflows, eliminating cold-start downtime during releases. Automated backup was configured to capture the full web app and its database every 24 hours, with a 30-day retention policy and backups directed to the Storage Account provisioned in Phase 2. Application Insights was integrated for real-time performance monitoring, with alert rules configured for response time degradation and error rate spikes.
